Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Southeast Asia, known for its beaches, temples, and vibrant culture. Thailand has relatively relaxed visa policies for many nationalities.
Key points about Thailand visas: - 93 nationalities can enter visa-free for up to 60 days — still granted as of early July 2026, but the Cabinet approved (19-21 May 2026) a cut to 30 days for a reduced 54-country list, effective 15 days after Royal Gazette publication (not yet published) — check before travel - Visa on Arrival (VOA) available for select countries - Tourist Visa (TR) available for longer stays (60 days) - Extension possible at immigration offices in Thailand
Visa-exempt (60 days): India, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, all EU countries, Japan, South Korea, and many others (93 countries total).
Chinese citizens: 30 days per visit (up to 90 days per 180) under a separate bilateral mutual exemption in force since 1 March 2024 — China is not part of the 93-country 60-day scheme.
Visa on Arrival (15 days): Taiwan and several other countries not on the visa-exemption list.
E-Visa available: For most nationalities through the Thailand E-Visa portal.

How to Apply
Since 1 January 2025 all Thai visa applications worldwide are submitted online via the official Thailand eVisa portal (thaievisa.go.th), covering all 94 Thai embassies and consulates — in-person lodgment at embassies is no longer accepted. Many travelers use the visa exemption for short visits.
